Built between 1573 and 1577, this cathedral contains two masterpieces by Caravaggio. The Co-cathedral of San Juan is a jewel of Baroque art and architecture. This church is to this day an important sanctuary and a sacred place of worship. It is also the scene of cultural events. The construction was commissioned in 1572 by Grand Master Jean de la Cassière to serve as the convent church of the Knights of Malta and designed by the Maltese military architect Gerolamo Cassar. The oratory houses the largest and only signed masterpiece by Caravaggio.


Barrakka Gardens
Named Upper Barrakka and Lower Barrakka, both gardens offer a breathtaking view of the Grand Harbour.
The Upper Barrakka garden, in particular, is a must-see. Built on a semi-bastion. Several statues and monuments adorn the gardens, including one dedicated to Winston Churchill.
In the center of the Lower Barrakka Gardens is a monument dedicated to Captain Ball.
Teatru Manoel
One of the oldest operating theaters in Europe, inaugurated in 1731, it offers a varied program and guided tours.


Grandmaster Palace Courtyard
Former residence of the Grand Masters of the Order of St. John, it now houses the Parliament and exhibits a collection of armor and tapestries.
Saluting Battery
Situated high on the historic eastern walls of Valletta, it enjoys unparalleled spectacular views of the Grand Harbour and surrounding fortified towns. Here you can see a fully restored powder magazine, an artillery weapons store, a beautiful collection of original muzzle-loading artillery, ammunition and equipment, and see the cannon blanks up close. Guided tours in English are offered three times a day, at 11:00 am, 12:30 pm and 3:00 pm.
